Welcome to JD Windborne Travel - the Specialist Tour Operator for Slovakia Holidays

We are very excited to be able to offer you this new destination in the very heart of Europe.

Slovakian Travel Slovakia has beautiful landscapes, culture, history and friendly people. It has exceptional natural locations and areas of outstanding beauty.

There are lowlands as well as high mountains. Forests cover nearly 40% of Slovakia, and it boasts nine natural national parks, the most valuable being the High Tatras, the smallest Alpine mountains in Europe.

Large mountain areas offer excellent conditions for summer and winter visitors. In summer Slovakia offers about 12000km of marked trails for hiking.

As Slovakia is situated in the very heart of the European continent there is no sea.

However, there is a dense network of rivers and reservoirs. It is a country with an extraordinary number of curative springs. There are more 1,300 registered thermal and mineral springs. For recreation, there are over 40 thermal swimming pools.

There are also a number of buildings recognised by UNESCO. There are 4000 registered caves in Slovakia and 12 of these are open to the public.

The capital city is Bratislava and lies in a strategic location on both banks of the River Danube and at the foot of the small Carpathian Mountains. Bratislava was formerly known as Pressburg and known locally as little Vienna.

Mozart and Beethoven along with Haydn and Franz Liszt have given concerts in this wonderful city. Its past history sits comfortably alongside a modern vibrant town with its numerous restaurants, nightclubs and jazz venues. Bratislava is truly waiting to be discovered.
